China’s number two United States creditor, Japan become number one

The U.S. Treasury Department web site on the 16th to the latest data show that in December 2009 Chinese holdings of U.S. Treasury holdings, from the previous month to 789.6 billion U.S. dollars to reduce 755.4 billion U.S. dollars.
Japanese holdings of 11.5 billion U.S. dollarsĀ U.S. Treasury bonds, more than China to become a country with the largest holders of U.S. Treasury bonds.
According to the U.S. Treasury Department data released in December 2009, holdings of overseas investors reduced a record high of 53 billion U.S. dollars, much higher than a reduction of 44.5 billion U.S. dollars in April.
In major of the United States Treasury bonds holding countries, in December 2009 Japan increase the holdings of 11.5 billion U.S. dollars, to 768.8 billion U.S. dollars, becoming America’s largest creditor.
China reduced holdings of 34.2 billion U.S. dollars that month, currently holds the U.S. national debt 755.4 billion U.S. dollars, fell to the United States the second-largest creditor. This is the second consecutive month, the Chinese reduced the holdings of U.S. Treasury bonds.
In addition, the British increase the holdings of 24.9 billion U.S. dollars that month, to 302.5 billion U.S. dollars; Brazil increase the holdings of 3.5 billion U.S. dollars, to 160.6 billion U.S. dollars; Russia reduced holdings of 9.6 billion U.S. dollars, to 118.5 billion U.S. dollars.
